NutraBio athlete Shane “Hurricane” Burgos faced one of the most dynamic strikers the UFC has ever seen, Edson Barboza. Burgos and Barboza faced each other this past Saturday at UFC 262: “Oliveira vs. Chandler”. This bout was expected to be extremely entertaining based on their resumes, as they have a combined 23 finishes and ten UFC Fight of the Night awards, and they delivered.
Both fighters looked to push the pace immediately as Barboza began to land multiple low kicks and Burgos counter with punch combinations. The first and second rounds were absolute battles as both fighters traded combinations and never backed down. Both began to mix up their techniques as the rounds progressed, Burgos added body shots into his combinations and Barboza threw multiple spinning back kicks.
The third round included fireworks as both fighters understood they will need to finish their opponent to secure the victory. Both fighters threw their most powerful strikes in the last round, and some of the UFC’s top fighters were impressed.
Barboza and Burgos continued to exchange combinations during the third round. Barboza found his range and landed a strong right hand that knocked Burgos to the mat. The referee came in quickly to stop the fight to protect Burgos. Even though his fight did not end the way he envisioned, Burgos put on another memorable bout for UFC fans and was awarded the “Fight of the Night” bonus. He represented his team and NutraBio with pride and we look forward to seeing him back in the octagon soon.
